Take a photo and your calories and macros are logged for you. Built around Japanese food — home cooking, convenience store meals and eating out — with 4,000+ foods searchable offline. Go over your target and Karo-chan still has your back.
The free plan stays free. CalLog Pro comes with a 7-day free trial.
Third entry today. Nice streak!
WHY IT DIDN'T WORK
People quit food logging for roughly three reasons. CalLog deals with all three up front.
Entering a name and a weight for every single thing you eat gets old fast. In CalLog you take a photo, or scan a barcode. Foods you log often show up as suggestions as soon as you start typing.
Nikujaga and gyudon simply don't come up in most apps. CalLog carries Japan's official food composition tables plus chain restaurant data, entered by the size it's actually served in.
The day you overeat is the day you least want to open the app — and the day the record matters most. Karo-chan never scolds you for going over. Logging it is the win.
MEET KARO-CHAN
CalLog comes with Karo-chan. She reacts to what you've eaten and how often you've logged, from the home screen of the app and from your iPhone's home screen widget. She acknowledges the effort — she never grades you.

ON TRACK
Looking good! Keep it up
ALMOST THERE
Nearly at your target. Great job logging!
YOU STILL LOGGED IT
Logging the days you go over is what keeps it going
The home screen widget shows calories remaining and your current streak. On days you might forget, Karo-chan sends a reminder at the time you chose.
6 WAYS TO LOG
Barcode when you're in a rush, quick entry when you forgot to photograph it. Having a choice is what makes it stick.
Just photograph the meal. CalLog reads calories and macros from what's on the plate. Pro removes the daily limit.
Scan a packaged product's barcode and log it as is. Looking up products missing from the database on the web is a Pro feature.
Type a name and a calorie figure and you're done. Start typing and anything you've logged before appears as a suggestion, so you never re-enter the same meal.
4,000+ Japanese everyday foods and chain restaurant items, searchable offline. Log a meal even with no signal.
Save your usual breakfast once and log it with a single tap. Log the same dish a few times and CalLog offers to save it for you.
Write "large shoyu ramen and five gyoza" and CalLog splits it into items and works out the calories and macros for each.
Automatically calculated figures are AI estimates. You can correct any entry by hand at any time.
Every food in Japan's Standard Tables of Food Composition (8th revised edition, 2023 supplement), published by MEXT, plus the official nutrition data that major chains publish. Restaurant items are stored by serving size, so you're never guessing at grams.
Calories, protein, fat, fibre and salt, scored out of 100 every day. The score itself is free. With Pro you see where each point went and how many grams you are from full marks, item by item.
NEW IN v1.9
A formula gives you an average person's number. CalLog works out yours, from your own food and weight records.
The calculation starts once you have 10+ days of food records and 3+ weight entries within the last four weeks. The weight screen always shows how many days you have left to go.
"Body composition" raises your protein target; "low sodium" caps salt at 6 g. Pick one and CalLog recalculates your protein, fat, carbohydrate and salt targets around it. The standard targets you have now stay free.
Not intended for the treatment of any medical condition.
Review how your intake compares with your target and how your macros trend. Free covers the last 7 days; Pro adds 14, 30 and 90. Graphs of 30 days or more pinch to zoom and drag sideways to move through time.
KEEP GOING
CalLog counts the days you've logged in a row. Weekly dots and badges for milestones turn "I don't want to break it" into a habit.
Add workouts by hand, or let CalLog read active energy from Health, and add it to the day's target. CalLog never writes to Health.
Roll an unused allowance into the next day, within a cap you set. You can also set different calorie targets per weekday.

No. Meals, weight and photos are all stored on your iPhone. When you use photo calculation the photo is sent for estimation, and when you use meal analysis that day's food and exercise records are sent, both by way of our server — neither is stored there. Your weight, height, age and sex are never sent.
It is an AI estimate — treat it as a guide, and tap any entry to correct it by hand. The food database figures, by contrast, come from Japan's official composition tables and the nutrition data published by each chain.
